The Power of Prayer

For those of you who believe that the world is in danger, you have been sadly mislead. The world may appear to be in trouble but together, we can stop any evil that may threaten us. By simply praying, we can ask our own higher power, whether it be God, Allah, or whoever you worship, to help save us from any possible tragedy. For example, if we pray enough, we can convince God to cool down the Earth for us, and thus, end global warming. Furthermore, if we pray, we will learn through our religious principles to not have unlawful pregnancies, or abortion, which would greatly improve our infant mortality rate, and in a greater view, our population growth. However, for those who do not whole-heartedly believe in this concept, we can help limit population growth through effective family planning and acceptable resource depletion.

It sounds really good Eric. But are you saying if countries like India and Kenya and many more are havinng problems it is just because they are not praying enough?? And if all of us join our hands and pray together, then the GOD will cool the earth down. Why do you think he is heating it up the first place? Maybe just to see how much we squeal???

Dr. Singh, that is terrible. If God only wanted to "see how much we squeal" why would he continue to deliver us time and again. I understand that these are not your particular beliefs, but please dont insult us by saying that this God who we love so much would be so cruel. We know what he does is necessary and maybe it is to teach us a lesson or something along those lines, but he does not wish to watch us "squeal."

No offense Kjrsin, but I honestly don't feel like I (or anybody else for that matter) have any idea what God is thinking at any particular given time.

But honestly Dr. Singh, a little bit of human unity in saving the planet wouldn't hurt -- be it through prayer or through other means.

love,
John

Prayer can be a way to solve our problems but we have to look at the bigger picture; we have to be able to stop this ourselves instead of waiting for God to come in and save the day. We know that we have to make a change so why wait and pray for God to fix it for us when we can fix it ourselves? We need to realize if we are praying to God to fix this, maybe we should try and do something and fix it. If you really wanted a change, you would create action instead of being passive and sitting back and watching it happen.

Studies actually show that, yes, the world IS in danger.. and it is coming to an end, whether you choose to accept and believe it or not. (No offense). I agree that we can try to stop all of the harm we are doing to the world, but I don't think only prayer will do the trick. Yes, prayer is comforting and can help reach out to God or the gods.. or if you're an athiest.. then.. whomever? But, I think Ruki is right in saying that we have to look at the bigger picture and take some responsiblity. We can no longer just sit and watch it happen hoping that it will pass.
However, prayer is never a bad thing.
And yeah, Dr. Singh.. haha why so harsh? sheesh! haha

I find the thought of saving the world by prayer interesting. Many of those in the United States who call themselves Evangelical Christians and believe, deeply in Christ, also vote for lawmakers that undermine current environmental laws and promote corporations that foul the land, water, oceans and air. Is it okay for this environmental destruction to take place because Armageddon will soon be here? Or, is the destruction of the planet occurring because the wrong people are praying for its rescue? I'm confused...it is frustrating that those who want to put things in God's hands often do not value the planet that they believe he gave us. Does it not say...

God made us such a beautiful place to live, and gave us such gifts in life...why can't we just take care of them properly? Let's show God how much we appreciate all He's given us by loving our planet and taking care of it, keeping it healthy and alive, not ruining it. If that means to take precautions and control population to make sure it doesn't get out of hand, then so be it.
